GigaPan Technology:
Have you seen a GigaPan robot before? (check out their website: http://gigapan.com/)
We’ve teamed up with Dr. Alex Smith, at the University of Guelph, to learn about how to create ‘digital notebooks’ to document spaces that are ephemeral.
Check out more by Alex here: https://www.malexsmith.com/gigapans-and-field-videos.html
The small robot that you see attached to the tripod in the image is guiding the camera (small illuminated screen) around the space, taking hundreds of photographs. The path is a grid, 10 photos high by 40 photos around, each with overlapping borders. With all the photos collected, we’ll use software to ‘stitch’ the images together, matching the overlapping pixels to create a seamless photo-quilt.
Stay tuned! We’re still stitching ;)
