Learning from imagination

No technology exists without ideas. We will tap into the vast library of technology ideas from idea experts: writers. Using science-fiction texts in which climate adaptation strategies have been imagined, we will fill in our existing gaps with pre-figurative tech. Our aim is to assist designers with the initial stages of the design process.

Repository of Manufactured Ecosystems in Science Fictions

This research is done at the Faculty of Philology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece as part of the Canadian research titled “The manufactured ecosystem” that is funded by the Canadian Government under the framework of New Frontiers in Research Fund-Exploration-NFRE-2022-00491. The current research’s aim is to create a website in the form of a digital repository of interactive texts. Specifically, we select some science fictions (20th-21st ce.)’s references / extracts to post on the repository’s website. These literary texts are thematically apt to manufactured ecosystems, climate change, relationship between technology and environment as well as posthumanism.
